Part-Time Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support (Autism) - Secondary School
Location: Crawley
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Part-time, ongoing (15 hours per week)
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Hours & Flexibility
This position is as a teaching assistant supporting 1-2-1 in class for 15 hours a week, which can be structured flexibly to suit the right candidate either across 5 days or 3 days.
This role is ideal for someone looking for a work-life balance or a TA role alongside other commitments.
About the Role
NextGen Teachers are recruiting a dedicated and empathetic part-time Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 8 student with autism in a welcoming secondary school. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong, supportive relationships and wants to make a meaningful impact in a low-stress, rewarding environment as a learning support assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support in lessons as a TA and around school
- Help the student stay focused, organised, and confident
- Reinforce learning by breaking tasks into manageable steps
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure progress
- Encourage independence and maintain a calm, positive atmosphere

- Understand autism and neurodiversity, or are keen to develop this understanding

- Can communicate effectively with both staff and students
