NextGen Teachers are currently supporting a welcoming and inclusive primary school in central Leeds who are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a full-time position based within our in-house provision, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This school is committed to providing a nurturing, structured, and supportive environment where every child can thrive. You will work closely with experienced teaching staff and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including communication and interaction needs, ASD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support pupils with SEND within our specialist in-house provision
Deliver targeted interventions and personalised support plans
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and external agencies
Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
This role requires patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children with SEND (school-based experience desirable)
A calm, caring, and flexible approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and families
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
