Teaching Assistant - (Mainstream & SEN Opportunities)

Location: Leeds
Contract: Monday to Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm), Term-Time Only
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £90-£95 per day (dependent on experience)

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting passionate and reliable Teaching Assistants to work full-time across a range of primary schools in Leeds, including both mainstream and specialist SEN settings.

We are seeking adaptable and confident individuals who are available Monday to Friday and are keen to make a meaningful impact in the classroom. Opportunities are available across Early Years, KS1 and KS2, with some roles also based within specialist SEN provisions and dedicated SEN schools.

Whether you have a strong mainstream background or experience supporting pupils with additional needs, we are looking for Teaching Assistants who can confidently manage behaviour, build positive relationships, and deliver targeted interventions to support pupil progress.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally. Roles may include a combination of whole-class support, small group work, and 1:1 support depending on the needs of the school.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2

  • Delivering targeted literacy and numeracy interventions

  • Leading small group booster sessions to close learning gaps

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs, including SEN

  • Supporting pupils with EHCPs in mainstream or specialist settings

  • Managing behaviour confidently and consistently in line with school policies

  • Assisting with planning and preparation of learning activities

  • Promoting a positive, inclusive and well-structured learning environment

  • Supporting pupils' emotional regulation and social development

In SEN settings, this may also include supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or more complex learning difficulties.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working in a primary school setting (mainstream or SEN)

  • Confidence managing behaviour and supporting pupils with additional needs

  • Experience delivering interventions in phonics, literacy or numeracy

  • The ability to build strong, professional relationships with pupils and staff

  • A calm, resilient and proactive approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in English and Maths

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)

This is an excellent opportunity for Teaching Assistants in Leeds who are looking for consistent, full-time work in supportive school environments and who are confident working across both mainstream and SEN settings.
