An outstanding secondary school in Kirklees is seeking to appoint an ambitious and dynamic Subject Leader of PE (male) from September 2026. This is a permanent leadership opportunity within a high-performing school known for its strong academic outcomes, excellent student behaviour, and positive, aspirational culture.

Our students are motivated, respectful, and highly engaged. Sport and physical education play an important role in our broad and balanced curriculum, and we are looking for a leader who can further enhance participation, performance, and enjoyment across all key stages.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead and develop the PE curriculum, driving high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement. You will oversee both curriculum PE and the wider extra-curricular sporting programme, promoting health, well-being, teamwork, and competitive excellence.

This role offers the opportunity to shape provision in a supportive environment where leadership and professional growth are valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for PE across Key Stages 3-5

  • Design and deliver an ambitious, inclusive, and engaging PE curriculum

  • Lead, support, and develop members of the PE team

  • Monitor teaching quality and student progress to ensure excellent outcomes

  • Drive extra-curricular sport, fixtures, and enrichment opportunities

  • Promote whole-school well-being, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles

  • Contribute to wider school leadership and uphold high standards of behaviour and professionalism

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • A proven track record of outstanding teaching in PE

  • Experience in leading or contributing to departmental development

  • Strong organisational and leadership skills

  • The ability to inspire participation and competitive success

  • A commitment to safeguarding and student well-being
