NextGen Teachers is working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Leeds to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant.

The school supports children and young people aged 2-19 with complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). Learners follow a highly structured, pathway-based curriculum that is personalised to meet individual EHCP targets, with a strong focus on communication, independence, and engagement.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the school day, helping them access learning, develop communication skills, and regulate their emotions within a consistent and nurturing environment. Many learners are non-verbal and may communicate through behaviour, sensory responses, or alternative communication methods.

You will play a key role in supporting students' individual needs, academically, socially, and emotionally responding calmly and consistently to help them feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. Some pupils may display behaviours that challenge, particularly when their sensory or communication needs are unmet, so patience, resilience, and a proactive approach are essential.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a specialist setting that values teamwork, structure, and a child-centred approach.

  • Provide personal care in line with individual care plans and dignity standards
