Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 4:00pm (term time only)

A well-established specialist SEN school in Croydon is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a long-term ongoing opportunity within a structured and supportive environment, ideal for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.

You will support pupils across both Primary and Secondary phases, working within small class settings designed to provide focused, individualised learning. The students have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is seeking someone who can provide consistent support, build positive relationships, and contribute to a calm and purposeful learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support students within the classroom to access learning effectively
• Deliver targeted 1:1 support and small group interventions
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviour choices
• Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider support team to adapt learning materials
• Help maintain a structured, safe and nurturing classroom environment
• Build strong, professional relationships that promote confidence and independence

About You

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEMH, or a strong desire to do so
• Background in education, care, youth work, or similar support-based roles
• Calm, patient and confident in managing challenging behaviour
• A team player who communicates effectively with colleagues
• Reliable, proactive and available to start immediately
