We are currently recruiting for an outstanding Teacher of Geography (maternity cover) to join the school from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed teacher to become part of a highly regarded and well-resourced department. The successful candidate will teach Geography to GCSE, alongside some KS3 RE and History (with fully planned and resourced lessons provided), and will contribute to a department known for strong uptake, excellent outcomes and a rich programme of fieldwork and enrichment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential involvement at A Level

  • Teach some KS3 RE and History using provided schemes of work and resources

  • Assess, record and report on student progress in line with school policy

  • Use prior attainment data to set appropriate targets and implement strategies to support progress

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement and academic achievement

  • Contribute to curriculum development, including schemes of work and teaching materials

  • Support and promote extra-curricular activities, including fieldwork and educational visits where appropriate

  • Fulfil form tutor responsibilities and contribute to the pastoral life of the school

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and students

  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and wider professional responsibilities in line with school policy

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A degree in Geography or a closely related discipline and a recognised teaching qualification (QTS)
  • Experience of successfully teaching Geography across KS3 and KS4 (A Level desirable)

  • The ability to inspire and motivate highly able students

  • Strong classroom management skills and high expectations of behaviour and achievement

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

  • Confidence in using ICT to enhance teaching and learning

  • A willingness to contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities

  • Energy, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for Geography

  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents

  • A reflective mindset and commitment to continuous professional development

  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
