Teaching Assistant - Supply
Supply SEN Teaching Assistant - Wakefield/Leeds
Location: Wakefield/Leeds (various SEN and mainstream settings)
Hours: Monday-Friday, school hours | Term-Time Only
Salary: £19,000-£20,000 per year equivalent
Start Date: Immediate
NextGen Teachers are seeking compassionate and adaptable Supply SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of supportive schools and specialist provisions in the Wakefield area. You will support pupils with Autism (ASD), ADHD, PMLD, complex needs, and social/emotional needs, helping them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.
This role is ideal for someone patient, flexible, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs, who enjoys the variety and independence that supply work provides.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with diverse SEN needs
Assist with communication, sensory activities, behaviour support, and daily routines
Support emotional regulation and engagement in learning
Provide personal care when required (training available if needed)
Promote a calm, nurturing, and structured learning environment
Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff across different schools
Candidate Requirements
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ASD, ADHD, PMLD, or complex needs (school, care, residential, youth work, or similar)
Patient, reliable, proactive, and adaptable
Comfortable providing personal care when necessary
DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one promptly
Immediate availability and willingness to work flexibly across Wakefield schools
