Teaching Assistant - SEN
SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provision, Leeds
Location: Leeds
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Long-term / Permanent (depending on suitability)
Start Date: ASAP
We are currently working in partnership with a specialist provision in Leeds that supports children and young people aged 2-19 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The school offers a supportive and structured environment, helping pupils to develop both academically and emotionally.
We are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team and support pupils with a range of additional needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, communication difficulties, and associated learning needs.
The role will include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils
Supporting learning, emotional regulation, and social development
Working closely with teachers and the wider support staff
Assisting with personalised learning plans and targeted interventions
Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience desirable)
Be patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs
Have strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
Work effectively as part of a team
- Team Teach trained (or willingness to complete)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Experience in a specialist or alternative provision is a plus, but we're also very happy to hear from people who have transferable experience and a genuine passion for supporting SEND pupils.
