Inclusion and high-quality provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities sit at the heart of the school's ethos, with staff working collaboratively to ensure all learners are supported to make strong progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of SEND strategy and policy

  • Coordinate identification, assessment and support for pupils with SEND

  • Oversee EHCPs, IEPs, statutory assessments and review processes

  • Track and analyse progress of SEND and vulnerable pupils to ensure strong outcomes

  • Provide advice, guidance and training to teaching and support staff

  • Lead and manage the SEND team, including support staff and learning mentors

  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers and external agencies

  • Ensure accurate, confidential SEND records and compliance with statutory requirements

  • Manage SEND resources and budget to maximise impact

  • Contribute to whole-school improvement, inclusion and staff development

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • SENCO qualification (or currently working towards)

  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice

  • Proven impact on outcomes for pupils with SEND

  • Experience working with external agencies

  • Ability to analyse data to inform intervention and provision

  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Experience leading teams within a school setting

  • Knowledge of funding and statutory SEND processes
