Location: Wakefield
Contract: Temporary to Permanent (Term Time Only)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:45am-3:35pm
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £90-£95 per day (dependent on experience)

We are looking for a compassionate, patient and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their experienced and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with autism and/or complex needs to thrive both academically and socially.
In this role, you will work closely with pupils to:
Develop effective communication strategies, including non-verbal methods
Support emotional regulation, resilience and emotional literacy
Build confidence, independence and self-esteem
Encourage positive peer interactions and social skill development
Key Responsibilities
Provide personalised support in communication, social interaction, sensory regulation and behaviour
Implement specialist strategies such as personalised timetables, transition support, emotion coaching and structured sensory breaks
Adapt learning tasks to ensure they are accessible, engaging and meaningful
Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to promote progress and curriculum access
Encourage positive play, peer relationships and inclusive social opportunities
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and parents/carers to ensure consistent, holistic support
Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and behaviour support plans
Requirements
Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Willingness to provide personal care where required
Team Teach trained, or open to completing the training
Patience, empathy and strong behaviour management skills
Genuine passion for helping children reach their potential
Understanding of safeguarding procedures and accurate record-keeping
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Minimum Grade C/4 in GCSE English, Maths and Science
Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
