SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary SEN (Immediate Start)

Location: Leeds
Contract: Temp-to-perm (term time only)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: £90-£95 per day

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a supportive primary specialist setting in Leeds. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting younger children with additional needs and helping them develop confidence, independence, and key life skills.

The school supports primary-aged children with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD, Down syndrome, communication and interaction needs, and social, emotional, or learning difficulties. You will be providing 1:1 and small-group support, assisting with engaging classroom activities, and helping to maintain a calm, safe, and nurturing learning environment.

The role may also involve supporting children with transitions, play-based learning, enrichment activities, and personal care where required, always putting the child's wellbeing at the centre of your practice.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a primary or early years setting

• A patient, empathetic approach and the ability to use positive behaviour strategies

• A genuine passion for working with young children with additional needs

• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection

• Team Teach training (or willingness to complete)

• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

• GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in English, Maths, and Science
