SEN/ SEMH Secondary Teacher - Leeds (QTS Required)
Location: Leeds
Contract: Term-time only, Monday to Friday
Salary: £28,000 - £39,000 per year (dependent on experience)

Job Summary
Next Gen Teachers are seeking an outstanding SEN and SEMH Secondary Teacher to join a highly supportive specialist provision in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and reflective practitioner who is passionate about helping young people with additional needs achieve both academically and personally. The role involves teaching learners with a range of special educational needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs, within a structured and nurturing environment.

Role Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching to KS3 and KS4 learners with SEN and SEMH needs

• Implement trauma-informed, relationship-based approaches to support behaviour and engagement

• Develop personalised learning plans and adapt lessons to meet individual needs

• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and external professionals

• Maintain a calm, safe and supportive classroom environment

• Monitor progress, record assessment data and contribute to review meetings

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential

• Experience working within SEN, SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings is desirable

• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate situations effectively

• A resilient, patient and compassionate approach to supporting young people

• Ability to tailor teaching to support varying abilities and complex needs

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils
