SEN/ SEMH Secondary Teacher - Leeds (QTS Required)
Location: Leeds
Contract: Term-time only, Monday to Friday
Salary: £28,000 - £39,000 per year (dependent on experience)
Job Summary
Next Gen Teachers are seeking an outstanding SEN and SEMH Secondary Teacher to join a highly supportive specialist provision in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and reflective practitioner who is passionate about helping young people with additional needs achieve both academically and personally. The role involves teaching learners with a range of special educational needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs, within a structured and nurturing environment.
Role Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching to KS3 and KS4 learners with SEN and SEMH needs
Implement trauma-informed, relationship-based approaches to support behaviour and engagement
Develop personalised learning plans and adapt lessons to meet individual needs
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and external professionals
Maintain a calm, safe and supportive classroom environment
Monitor progress, record assessment data and contribute to review meetings
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
Experience working within SEN, SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings is desirable
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate situations effectively
A resilient, patient and compassionate approach to supporting young people
Ability to tailor teaching to support varying abilities and complex needs
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils
