Contract: Temporary to permanent (term time only). Monday to Friday, 8:30-3:30
Start date: ASAP
Salary: £22,000 - £24,000

About the Role

NextGen Teachers are excited to be working with a fantastic Specialist SEMH School in Barnsley (S71), and we're looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference. As an Inclusion Support Worker, you'll play a key role in helping students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs to feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. Your days will be varied - you might be offering calm, encouraging support in the classroom, leading a small-group activity, or spending time 1:1 with a pupil who needs an extra bit of reassurance. What matters most is your ability to build trust, stay patient, and bring positivity to each day.

Key Responsibilities

• Helping to set up the classroom so pupils can get the most out of each lesson

• Supporting pupils in class, encouraging engagement and confidence

• Providing targeted help for students who need additional support

• Keeping accurate records of progress and key information

• Leading small learning activities or specific interventions

• Supporting structured routines not just in school, but occasionally in the community or within family settings

• Using positive strategies to help students manage tricky emotions or behaviours

Requirements

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, especially SEMH

• Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach

• A genuine passion for helping children grow and thrive

• Understanding of safeguarding and good record-keeping

• Access to your own vehicle

• Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)

• Level 3 Qualification in a relevant subject

• Minimum Grade C/4 in GCSE English, Maths, and Science
