Contract: Temporary to permanent (term time only). Monday to Friday, 8:30-3:30
Start date: ASAP
Salary: £22,000 - £24,000
About the Role
NextGen Teachers are excited to be working with a fantastic Specialist SEMH School in Barnsley (S71), and we're looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference. As an Inclusion Support Worker, you'll play a key role in helping students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs to feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. Your days will be varied - you might be offering calm, encouraging support in the classroom, leading a small-group activity, or spending time 1:1 with a pupil who needs an extra bit of reassurance. What matters most is your ability to build trust, stay patient, and bring positivity to each day.
Key Responsibilities
Helping to set up the classroom so pupils can get the most out of each lesson
Supporting pupils in class, encouraging engagement and confidence
Providing targeted help for students who need additional support
Keeping accurate records of progress and key information
Leading small learning activities or specific interventions
Supporting structured routines not just in school, but occasionally in the community or within family settings
Using positive strategies to help students manage tricky emotions or behaviours
Requirements
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, especially SEMH
Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach
A genuine passion for helping children grow and thrive
Understanding of safeguarding and good record-keeping
Access to your own vehicle
Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
- Level 3 Qualification in a relevant subject
Minimum Grade C/4 in GCSE English, Maths, and Science
