NextGen Teachers are recruiting a dedicated SEMH Support Worker / Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, forward-thinking school in Huddersfield. This role is perfect for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and committed to supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

You'll play an essential role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, regulate emotions, build confidence, and develop key social and life skills. Every day, you'll make a meaningful impact on the pupils who need it most.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and complex needs

  • Assist with behaviour regulation, de-escalation strategies, and pastoral care

  • Help pupils engage with learning, access lessons, and make consistent progress

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure joined-up support

  • Promote a calm, safe, and nurturing school environment


What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs (education, youth work, care, residential, or similar)

  • Recent classroom or school-based experience

  • GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)

  • Level 3 qualification (essential)

  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
