Salary: £92.60 minimum per day

NextGen Teachers are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, mainstream primary school in the LS9 area of Leeds. This role is ideal for a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting children with complex SEN and behavioural needs. You will be working within a KS1 setting, supporting pupils who require consistent, structured support to access learning and regulate their emotions and behaviour. The school places a strong emphasis on nurturing relationships, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour strategies to help pupils thrive both academically and socially.

About the role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for KS1 pupils with complex SEN needs
  • Support children with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and developmental delays
  • Implement behaviour support strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored, differentiated learning activities, including sensory-based interventions
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to support pupils' emotional regulation and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
  • Be comfortable supporting personal care where required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children with complex SEN and behavioural needs (KS1 or early years experience desirable)
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils to achieve their full potential
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding procedures
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • At least GCSE grade 4/C in English, Maths and Science
  • Level 3 Certificate in Childcare (or equivalent) desirable
