We are recruiting a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a well-established specialist provision in Burgess Hill. This role offers a clear pathway into a permanent position and the chance to make a meaningful impact on pupils' lives.
Role Details
- Location: Burgess Hill, West Sussex
- Hours: 08:45am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
- Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
- Contract: Temporary to Permanent (12-week placement)
- Pay: £90 - £110
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across primary and secondary age groups with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD/ASC), SEMH, and complex learning difficulties. You will play a key role in helping students access education in a structured, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
- Supporting pupils with Autism, SEND, and complex needs
- Creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and social development
- Assisting with EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
The Ideal Candidate
- Passionate about working with children with SEN, SEND, SEMH, or ASD
- Calm, patient, and resilient with a nurturing approach
- Confident in managing behaviour and supporting de-escalation
- Experienced in a school, care, or support setting (preferred)
- Familiar with or willing to learn about EHCPs, safeguarding, and behaviour strategies
