This is a fantastic opportunity for an Unqualified English Teacher / SEMH Tutor to join a supportive specialist secondary school in Horley. Perfect for aspiring teachers, Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, or Youth Workers looking to take the next step.

About the Role

This is a part-time (0.3) position in a specialist SEMH setting, working with students who require additional support with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Your role will include:

  • Teaching Key Stage 3 English (lesson plans & schemes provided)
  • Supporting literacy development, including reading, writing, and comprehension
  • Delivering targeted interventions using programmes such as Read Write Inc.
  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to maximise engagement
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, SEN, and challenging behaviour
  • Building strong, positive relationships to support progress and wellbeing

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in SEMH, SEN, or behaviour support
  • Who has an understanding of the secondary English Curriculum, or who has taught / delivered English lessons in class or online
  • From a background in education, youth work, care, or alternative provision
  • Passionate about progressing into a teaching career
  • Confident delivering 1:1 support and small group interventions
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable
