SEMH Teaching Assistant - SEMH & ASD (Secondary)

SEN / SEMH school based in Leeds | Full Time | Term Time Only | NextGen Teachers

NextGen Teachers are looking for a confident and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged students with SEMH and ASD. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a specialist setting helping young people re-engage with learning and develop emotionally and socially.

This is a small setting and the school are looking for candidates who has previous school-based experience working with students with complex needs including Autism and Social and Emotional Mental health needs.

Your Role:

  • Support students 1:1 and in small groups
  • Help manage behaviour using de-escalation strategies
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and interventions
  • Support EHCP targets and emotional regulation
  • Build positive relationships and encourage engagement
  • Promote a safe and supportive learning environment

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience with SEMH, ASD or challenging behaviour (ideal)
  • Is calm, patient and resilient
  • Has strong behaviour management skills
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
