Teaching Assistant (Level 3 or Unqualified) - Specialist School

Location: West Sussex (near Crawley / East Grinstead)
Salary: £22,746 - £23,980 per annum (dependent on qualifications)
Hours: Monday to Friday (term time only - 36 weeks)
Contract: 12 weeks Temp-to-Perm, and Permanent opportunities available
Start Date: ASAP or flexible for the right candidate

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or Psychology graduate looking for a long-term role in a supportive specialist school?

We are recruiting Teaching Assistants to join a well-established SEN setting supporting pupils with social, emotional, and communication needs. With small class sizes and a strong pastoral focus, this is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact while developing your career.

Multiple positions are available, including an immediate start role and longer-term permanent opportunities.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students primarily across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, working closely with teachers to support learning, behaviour, and emotional development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students in lessons across a range of subjects
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support where needed
  • Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Supporting pupils with SEN / SEND and additional needs
  • Building positive, consistent relationships with students
  • Supporting classroom organisation and learning resources

You may also have the opportunity to support subjects within subject areas of interest such as Maths, English, Art, or Geography.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced working with children or young people with additional needs
  • A Teaching Assistant (Level 3) or working towards a qualification (desirable)
  • A graduate (Psychology or related field) or from a care/support background
  • Patient, resilient, and confident managing behaviour
  • A strong team player with good communication skills
  • A driver (preferred due to location)
