This is a fantastic opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant / LSA to deliver targeted classroom support in English and Maths within a specialist secondary school in Horsham.
Perfect for candidates who enjoy academic intervention, mentoring, and structured support rather than general classroom duties.
About the Role
You'll be working with KS3 & KS4 pupils who need additional support in English and Maths, including students with SEMH, SEN, ASC, and speech & language needs.
Your role will include:
- Delivering English and/or Maths intervention in small groups and 1:1
- Supporting pupils working below expected levels to close attainment gaps
- Reinforcing key skills - literacy, numeracy, reading, writing, and comprehension
- Supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs to stay engaged in learning
- Working closely with teachers to support progress and attainment in lessons
- Building strong, consistent relationships to support both academic and emotional development
This is a hands-on intervention role with a clear focus on progress in English and Maths
Ideal Candidate
This role is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in English or Maths support and intervention, including:
- SEN Teaching Assistants / LSAs
- English or Maths Tutors / Intervention Tutors
- Behaviour Mentors / Pastoral Support staff
- Graduates in English, Maths, Psychology or related subjects
- Aspiring Teachers looking to gain classroom experience
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of English and/or Maths (KS3 & KS4)
- Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour
- Confidence delivering 1:1 and small group interventions
- Ability to support both academic progress and emotional regulation
- Patient, resilient, and proactive approach
