SEND Teaching Assistant - Immediate Start

Location: Burgess Hill
Hours: 8:30 - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Contract: 12-week temp-to-perm (following successful trial day)
Pay: £90 - £110 (DOE)

Job Summary

We are recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Burgess Hill for an immediate start. This is an excellent opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs).

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in providing consistent, high-quality support in a structured and supportive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities - SEND Teaching Assistant

  • Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions for pupils with SEND
  • Support students with SEMH needs, helping with emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Work closely with the class teacher to support lesson delivery
  • Maintain a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to support confidence and independence
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs

The Ideal Candidate :

  • Keen Interest or Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or similar)
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent
  • Willingness to work with or knowledge of SEND and SEMH
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable and able to commit to a full-time, term-time role
  • Available for an immediate start
