Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only - Temp to Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Salary: £20,000 - £23,000 (depending on experience)
NextGen Teachers are seeking an experienced and dedicated candidate to supervise and support pupils with special educational needs, ensuring their safety and full access to learning.
This rewarding role involves supporting young people aged 5-18 with Autism and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, alongside a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, FASD, anxiety, and communication or learning difficulties. Working within small, bespoke groups of 4-6 students, you will play a key role in delivering personalised support alongside a class teacher and dedicated team. Set within a unique environment featuring a peaceful woodland space and sensory courtyard, this provision offers a nurturing and engaging setting designed to enhance both learning and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support for pupils aged 5-18 with Autism, SEMH needs, and associated conditions such as ADHD, FASD, and anxiety, ensuring their safety and access to learning
- Work closely with the class teacher to deliver a personalised, engaging curriculum within small groups of 4-6 students
- Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation using consistent, nurturing, and trauma-informed approaches
- Deliver one-to-one and small group support to develop communication, independence, and social skills
- Contribute to structured interventions and therapeutic activities, including outdoor and sensory-based learning in woodland and courtyard spaces
- Promote student wellbeing by supporting emotional needs, building trusting relationships, and encouraging confidence and resilience
- Assist with personal care where required, maintaining dignity and promoting independence
- Collaborate with teachers and wider professionals to monitor progress and provide consistent, high-quality support across the school day
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism and/or SEMH needs is essential
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or within a specialist education or care setting is highly desirable
- A strong understanding of additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, FASD, anxiety, and communication or learning difficulties
- Confidence in supporting pupils within small group settings and delivering personalised, student-centred support
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- A proactive, flexible team player who thrives in a nurturing, therapeutic environment, including outdoor and sensory-based learning
- A genuine passion for supporting young people's wellbeing, independence, and personal development
