Complex Needs Teaching Assistant - Specialist SEN School (Wakefield)

NextGen Teachers are currently working in partnership with a large specialist SEN provision in Wakefield (WF7) to recruit an experienced and compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. This setting supports pupils with complex and multiple learning needs, and this role will focus on secondary-aged learners requiring highly personalised support.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a dedicated multidisciplinary team within a nurturing and highly specialist environment. You will play a key role in supporting pupils' communication, engagement, physical needs, and overall wellbeing, helping them access meaningful and personalised learning experiences.

The Role

As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support secondary-aged pupils with complex learning needs
  • Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility where required
  • Help deliver individualised learning programmes linked to EHCP outcomes
  • Use sensory-based and engagement strategies to support learning
  • Support communication development, including alternative communication methods
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and independence
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
