Contract: Full-time, Term-Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Age Group: 4-16 years

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: £19500 - £20,500 (depending on experience)

NextGen Teachers are seeking an experienced and dedicated candidate to supervise and support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring their safety and full access to learning.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to deliver high-quality teaching and learning, proactively supporting the development of an engaging and appropriately challenging curriculum for all pupils. You will play a key role in behaviour management, helping to create a positive learning environment and ensuring resources are used effectively to support student progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide tailored support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring their safety and full access to learning activities.
  • Work in partnership with the class teacher to support the delivery of a creative, engaging, and appropriately challenging curriculum for all learners.
  • Assist in the implementation of effective behaviour management strategies, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping to develop their engagement, independence, and key life skills.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of interventions, support programmes, and therapeutic activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Ensure the effective use of classroom resources to enhance learning and support student progress.
  • Promote the safety, health, and well-being of pupils by supporting their personal care needs, including feeding, hygiene, and physical and emotional well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to monitor progress and provide consistent, high-quality support throughout the school day.

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs and disabilities is essential.
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or within an education, care, or support setting is highly desirable.
  • A good understanding of supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including learning, behavioural, physical, and mental health needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • A calm, patient, and compassionate approach, with the ability to respond effectively to individual pupil needs.
  • Confidence in supporting behaviour management strategies and contributing to a positive learning environment.
  • A proactive, flexible, and team-oriented attitude, with a commitment to supporting pupil progress, well-being, and inclusion.
