NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Post-16 / Key Stage 5 provision in Leeds from September 2026.
This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 16-19 with a range of additional needs, helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally while building the independence and life skills needed for life beyond education.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, learning disabilities and communication needs
Support students to access learning across vocational and academic subjects
Encourage independence, confidence and resilience both inside and outside the classroom
Assist students with life skills, employability skills and preparation for adulthood
Support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver personalised support in line with EHCP targets
Build positive relationships that enable students to thrive and achieve their full potential
Promote an inclusive, safe and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, either in education, care or community settings
Is patient, empathetic and committed to helping young people succeed
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Can build positive, trusting relationships with learners
Is proactive, flexible and able to adapt to individual learning needs
Has a genuine passion for supporting young people as they transition into adulthood
