We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting supporting children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs.

This is a highly rewarding role where you will support pupils with significant learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and complex medical and communication needs within a caring and supportive school environment.

Your Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support children and young people with PMLD and complex needs on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Assist pupils with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and hygiene, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Support communication using a range of approaches such as sensory strategies, symbols, and AAC systems.
  • Help deliver engaging sensory-based learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement individual education and care plans.
  • Promote pupil comfort, wellbeing, and engagement throughout the school day.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with PMLD, complex needs, or within a SEN setting is desirable but not essential.
  • A calm, patient, and highly compassionate approach.
  • Willingness and confidence to support personal care needs.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with significant and complex barriers to learning.
