Location: Leeds
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time, Temp to Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Age Group: 4-11 years
Start Date: September
Salary: £92 - £95 per day (depending on experience)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Travel Support Teaching Assistant. This unique role involves supporting primary-aged pupils to develop the confidence and independence to travel safely to and from school, helping them understand and learn local bus routes and travel routines. A strong knowledge of the local area is essential. During the school day, you'll work as a Teaching Assistant within the classroom, supporting pupils aged 4-11 years with their learning, development and overall wellbeing. The pupils you will be supporting may have moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD) and additional needs, so we're looking for someone who is patient, encouraging and passionate about helping every child reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils aged 4-11 with moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD) in the classroom and during travel training.
- Help pupils develop the confidence and independence to travel safely using public transport.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Promote positive behaviour, communication and independence in a safe and inclusive environment.
- Work closely with teachers, families and the wider school team while following safeguarding procedures
What we're looking for:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly MLD/SLD (desirable).
- A patient, caring and encouraging approach with excellent behaviour management skills.
- Good knowledge of the local area and confidence using public transport.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A reliable, proactive individual committed to safeguarding and promoting pupils' independence.
