Location: Wakefield
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm), term-time only
Start date: ASAP
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (depending on experience)
NextGen Teachers are proud to be working with a thriving school in Wakefield to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Wellbeing and Learning Mentor. You will be joining a school that places wellbeing at the heart of its ethos, supporting both students and staff, while making a meaningful difference to the lives of learners.
About the Role
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with social, emotional, or behavioural needs.
- Support children with Special Educational Needs, potentially those holding EHCPs.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage positive attitudes to learning.
- Supporting the school's safeguarding, attendance, and behaviour policies.
- Working collaboratively with staff and families to ensure children receive the care and support they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
- Be confident in supporting personal care needs where necessary.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working with children with SEN and challenging behaviour needs.
- A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential.
- Strong communication, adaptability and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
- Minimum GCSE grade 4/C in English, Maths, and Science.
- A Level 3 qualification in Childcare (or equivalent) is desirable.
