Primary 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

• Hours: 8:30 - 3:30 (Monday - Friday)

NextGen Teachers are currently working with a Primary School based in Leeds (LS6) which is very close to the Leeds City Centre who are seeking to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant to support a child in KS2 who is new to England and who has Downs Syndrome.

This school is 2-form entry and is a multi-cultural and diverse school. The role will involve supporting the KS2 Child who lives with Downs Syndrome on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day on a full-time basis.

This contract will be for a minimum of 1-year with a view of extending. The school are looking for a candidate who has SEN experience ideally working with Downs Dyndrome and who can also speak Arabic, Pashto or Dari however this is not essential.

The role of a Primary 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant will be to:

• Support the child on a 1:1 basis in and out of the classroom
• Support the child with regulating their behaviour
• Support the child in all lessons and during lunch-times
• Working with the class teachers and SENCOs to ensure the child is supported at all times
• Support the child with their holistic development in line with there Educational Health Care Plans
• Supporting and managing the behaviour of the child and promoting positive behaviour
