Location: Leeds
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £19,860 - £21,168
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a supportive school environment in Leeds.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people by helping them access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support that meets each pupil's individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEND to access learning in a safe and inclusive environment
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions under the guidance of the class teacher
- Assist in implementing EHCPs, behaviour plans, and care plans
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, development, and wellbeing
- Promote positive behaviour and inclusion across the school
- Provide personal care and support with health and therapy needs where required
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, families, and external professionals
- Support pupils during lessons, break times, and wider school activities
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times
- Participate in training, meetings, and ongoing professional development
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex SEN needs
- A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of safeguarding and related procedures
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science
Desirable:
- Team Teach training
- Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
- Moving and handling training
