SEND Teaching Assistant - Burgess Hill | Immediate Start | Temp to Perm | £90-£110 per day

NextGen Teachers are recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Burgess Hill. This role involves supporting children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism, complex needs, and communication difficulties.

This opportunity is particularly suited to candidates with a background in care, support work, or healthcare who are looking to transition into an education setting and build a long-term career in schools.

About the Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across both primary and secondary age groups, providing consistent, structured support to help them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.

• Location: Burgess Hill (Specialist Provision)
• Pay: £90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
• Hours: 08:45am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
• Contract: Temporary to permanent (12-week placement)
• Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 support tailored to individual learning and care needs
• Supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), complex needs, and SEND
• Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour management
• Creating a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
• Building positive relationships to support confidence, communication, and social development
• Working closely with teachers and support staff to adapt learning activities

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children or young people (care, support work, healthcare, or education)
• Strong interest in SEND, SEN, or SEMH
• Understanding of Autism or complex needs (desirable)
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Ability to support emotional regulation and recognise behavioural triggers
• Proactive, reliable, and committed to a long-term role
