SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary School | Horsham

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary school in Horsham. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to supporting children with additional needs and is looking to build a long-term career in education.

You will be working with pupils aged 4-11, supporting those with Autism, communication needs, and social, emotional, and mental health needs within a structured and supportive classroom setting.

  • Location: Specialist Primary School in Horsham
  • Pay: £95 - £100 per day
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 4:00pm (term time only)
  • Contract: Temporary to permanent (12-week temp to perm)
  • Start Date: Immediate/ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis with their learning and development
  • Assist children with SEND including Autism (ASC), SEMH, and speech and language needs
  • Provide support with behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Deliver targeted small group interventions when required
  • Help maintain a consistent and structured learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents to support pupil progress

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is preferred
  • Background in education, care, support work, or youth work
  • Interest in SEND, SEN, or SEMH support
  • Calm and professional approach to behaviour management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Looking for a long-term or permanent role in a school
