SEND Teaching Assistant - PMLD/SLD (Croydon)

We are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) at a friendly and supportive specialist school in Croydon. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within an experienced SEN team and become a valued part of a school community that truly supports its staff and students.

Role: Full time, Term Time Only - Ongoing supply work
Pay: £90 - £95 per day (DOE)
Start: ASAP

The Role :

• Sensory learning & communication support
• Working with a skilled SEN team
• Personal care & mobility support (training provided)
• Use of non-verbal communication as a TA
• Working with communication aids (PECS, symbols, switches)
• Clear, consistent communication with pupils and staff
• Active listening and interpretation of subtle cues as a 1-2-1 TA

You Will Need:

• Experience supporting people with PMLD, SLD or complex needs (school, care, SEN, or residential backgrounds all considered)
• A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to undertake personal care and manual handling
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

This would also suit candidates who have worked with people with disabilities, speech and language difficulties, undertaken medical or healthcare support roles or as a support or residential care worker.
