Salary: MPS - UPS + SEN Allowance (£32,916 - £51,048)

NextGen Teachers are proud to be partnering with a network of exceptional SEN schools across Leeds, supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
These specialist settings provide a nurturing and highly personalised approach to learning, where every pupil's needs, abilities, and developmental stage are at the centre of their education. The curriculum is adapted to support communication, sensory engagement, early learning skills, and independence, with a strong focus on creating meaningful and engaging learning experiences.
As a SEND Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering a structured yet flexible curriculum, tailored to individual EHCP targets. Learning may range from highly structured, routine-based teaching to exploratory, sensory-rich experiences that support engagement and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver personalised learning in line with pupils' EHCP targets
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where all pupils can thrive
- Deliver a curriculum that supports communication, sensory development, and early learning skills
- Use a range of strategies including visual supports, structured routines, and multi-sensory approaches
- Monitor and record pupil progress through observations, photographs, and assessment systems
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families, and external professionals
- Support pupils with complex needs, including ASD, SLD, and PMLD
- Provide personal care where required
- Support pupils with mobility and positioning needs, using specialist equipment as appropriate
- Promote emotional regulation, engagement, and positive behaviour
- Contribute to wider school life and enrichment opportunities
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience working with primary-aged pupils with ASD, SLD, PMLD, or complex SEN needs
- Experience or willingness to provide personal care
- Strong understanding of autism, sensory needs, and multi-sensory learning approaches
- A calm, patient, and nurturing teaching style
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Team Teach trained (or willingness to undertake training)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and associated procedures
