About the Role

You will lead a well-established Physics department with a strong track record of academic success at GCSE and A-level. Physics is a popular subject, taught as a standalone discipline, with a growing uptake at post-16.

The department is committed to delivering an engaging, rigorous, and enriching curriculum. You will play a key role in shaping its future development, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student outcomes.

This role offers the opportunity to work with motivated learners and contribute to a culture of high expectations, academic excellence, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will:

  • Set a clear vision for excellence in teaching and learning within the subject area
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and outcomes, implementing strategies for improvement
  • Develop and refine schemes of work and curriculum content across KS3-KS5
  • Support, coach, and develop colleagues within the department
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement
  • Use data effectively to inform teaching and departmental strategy
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities and initiatives
  • Lead or support extracurricular opportunities to enrich the Physics curriculum

You will be expected to model outstanding classroom practice and act as a role model for both staff and students.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Physics or a related subject
  • Has strong subject knowledge up to A-level
  • Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Has experience (or the potential) to lead and manage a team effectively
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of curriculum development and pedagogy
  • Has the ability to analyse performance data and drive improvement
  • Builds positive relationships and contributes to a collaborative culture
  • Is reflective, ambitious, and committed to professional development
  • Has a clear commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

The school offer:

  • Motivated and high-achieving students
  • A supportive and collaborative teaching environment
  • Well-resourced classrooms and strong departmental support
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • A culture that values high standards, innovation, and continuous improvement
