Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Pastoral Support Worker looking to move into a more therapeutic, relationship-led role?

We are recruiting a Teaching Assistant / Pastoral Key Worker to join a specialist, trauma-informed provision within a secondary setting in Crawley. This role focuses on supporting young people with SEMH, SEN, Autism (ASC), and Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA), helping them re-engage with education in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

The Role

This is a highly rewarding role centred around building trust and consistency. You will support students on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping them develop emotional regulation, confidence, and readiness to learn.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group pastoral and emotional support
  • Supporting students with SEMH, SEN, Autism (ASC), and EBSA
  • Helping pupils re-engage with education at an appropriate pace
  • Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour, and wellbeing
  • Working closely with SENCo, pastoral teams, and external professionals
  • Contributing to EHCPs and personalised support plans
  • Monitoring progress, attendance, and engagement
  • Supporting transitions back into structured learning environments

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEN, SEMH, or EBSA
  • Comes from an education, pastoral, or alternative provision background
  • Is calm, empathetic, and skilled at building strong relationships
  • Has experience supporting behaviour and emotional needs
  • Communicates effectively with staff, pupils, and families
  • Is committed to a child-centred, non-punitive approach
