NextGen Teachers are seeking a passionate, innovative, and enthusiastic Teacher of English to join a high-performing and ambitious school. The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stages 3 to 5, inspiring and motivating students of high ability. You will be a reflective practitioner with strong subject knowledge, capable of delivering engaging and challenging lessons that promote a love of literature and language. The role requires someone who can build excellent relationships with students, contribute to curriculum development, and actively support the wider school community through enrichment and extracurricular opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5, ensuring all students are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, using data effectively to inform teaching and raise attainment.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes a love of literature and language.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a rigorous and ambitious English curriculum.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, supporting their academic progress and personal development.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and uphold the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies.
  • Support students' wider development through enrichment opportunities, such as clubs, trips, and extracurricular activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department and across the wider school.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and wellbeing.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school.

What we're looking for:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a strong academic background in English
  • Passion for English and the ability to inspire a love of literature and language in students
  • Experience teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 desirable but not essential)
  • Strong subject knowledge and a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and learning
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons
  • Effective classroom management skills with high expectations for behaviour and achievement
  • A reflective practitioner who is committed to continuous professional development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • A team player who contributes positively to the department and wider school community
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
