Location: Leeds, LS6

Contract: Full time / Temporary to permanent (term time only). Monday to Friday (8:30-3:30)

Start date: November 2025

Salary: £90 - £95 per day (dependant on experience)

Alongside its mainstream provision, the school also offers a specialist setting to support children with complex needs.

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Intervention Support Assistant to join their skilled team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children to thrive both academically and socially, while helping them build the confidence and resilience to flourish inside and outside the classroom.

In this role, you will work closely with KS2 pupils, with daily responsibilities including:

  • Delivering New to English interventions
  • Leading lunchtime sports and activity groups
  • Supporting emotional regulation and resilience
  • Helping children grow in confidence, build friendships, and succeed academically

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to enable pupils to access and engage fully in school life
  • Implement strategies that promote positive behaviour, smooth transitions, and emotional wellbeing
  • Adapt classroom activities and resources to make learning inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to support academic progress
  • Encourage positive play, friendships, and peer relationships to aid social development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals to provide consistent support
  • Contribute to the planning and reviewing of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and pupil progress strategies

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people in an educational setting
  • Ability to deliver New to English interventions (second language desirable / good understanding of EAL)
  • Full UK driving licence with minibus entitlement, or willingness to obtain
  • Patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management skills
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and confidence in recording/reporting concerns
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Minimum Grade C/4 in GCSE English, Maths, and Science
  • Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent qualification)
