Contract: Full time / Temporary to permanent (term time only). Monday to Friday (8:30-3:30)

Salary: £90 - £95 per day (dependant on experience)

About the Role

NextGen Teachers are delighted to be partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Leeds. The school prides itself on its strong sense of community, commitment to pupil wellbeing, and determination to ensure every child reaches their full potential. Alongside its mainstream provision, the school also has a specialist setting dedicated to supporting children with complex needs.

We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Intervention Support Assistant to join their skilled and supportive team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about helping children thrive academically and socially, while building the confidence and resilience they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

As part of this role, you will work primarily with KS2 pupils, with responsibilities such as:

  • Delivering tailored interventions for children who are new to English.

  • Leading engaging lunchtime sports and activity clubs.

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and resilience.

  • Encouraging confidence, positive friendships, and academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personalised support to help pupils fully access and engage in all aspects of school life.
  • Use targeted strategies to encourage positive behaviour, support smooth transitions, and promote emotional wellbeing.
  • Adapt lessons, activities, and resources to ensure learning is inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable for every child.
  • Deliver focused one-to-one and small-group interventions to enhance academic progress.
  • Foster positive play, friendships, and peer relationships to support social development.
  • Work in partnership with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals to deliver consistent, holistic support.
  • Contribute to the creation, implementation, and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and pupil progress strategies.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people in an educational setting
  • Ability to deliver New to English interventions (second language desirable / good understanding of EAL)
  • Patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management skills
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and confidence in recording/reporting concerns
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Minimum Grade C/4 in GCSE English, Maths, and Science
  • Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent qualification)
