SEMH/Behaviour Support Worker
Location: HD8 area
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term time only)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £90-£95

NextGen Teachers are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for experienced SEMH/Behaviour Support Workers. We are currently recruiting for a new role at a specialist SEMH school in the HD8 area.

The school supports children who find it difficult to regulate their emotions and behaviour due to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. It's a challenging but incredibly rewarding environment where staff make a real difference every day.

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them to stay engaged in learning

• Building positive and trusting relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences

• Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent way

• Working closely with teachers and support staff to deliver personalised learning and behaviour support plans

• Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that encourages emotional growth and resilience

This is a term-time only role, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm.

What we're looking for:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour

• Confidence in handling difficult situations and using a trauma-informed approach

• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people

• The ability to work as part of a team while also showing initiative
