Autism Support Assistant - Primary or Secondary

• Location: Leeds
• Start Date: ASAP Temp - Perm

NextGen Teachers are recruiting for a dedicated and empathetic Autism Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Leeds. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to work closely with children and young people who need additional support to access their learning and thrive in school.

The Role:

• Supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in class or on a 1:1/small group basis
• Helping pupils manage routines, transitions, and social communication
• Working alongside teachers and SEN professionals to adapt tasks and create a supportive environment
• Encouraging independence, engagement, and emotional regulation throughout the school day

We're Looking For:

• Experience supporting children or young people with autism (in school or care settings)
• A calm, patient, and flexible approach to support
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly
• A genuine passion for inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
• Team players who can take initiative and work closely with staff and families

Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
• Right to work in the UK
• Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday during term time
• Relevant experience or training in autism support (desirable but not essential)#
• Two professional references
