Location: Wakefield (WF2)
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only - Temporary to Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £18,000 - £19,500 (depending on experience)
NextGen Teachers are delighted to be supporting a warm and inclusive primary school in the Wakefield (WF2) area, who are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and behavioural challenges.
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalised support to help children overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. You will be part of a caring, supportive team committed to creating engaging, inclusive, and memorable learning experiences for every child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN needs.
- Adapt learning approaches to support children with ASC, ADHD, MLD, global developmental delay, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH.
- Assist class teachers in planning and delivering engaging, tailored lessons.
- Work collaboratively with school staff and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex SEN needs.
- A genuine passion for helping children reach their potential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding and related procedures.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science.
- Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) - desirable.
