Year 4 Teaching Assistant - Full Time (Term Time Only) - Castleford - Start ASAP (March 2026)

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Year 4 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Castleford. This is a full-time, term-time-only position, starting ASAP in March 2026, with the opportunity for a long-term contract.

This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant who has experience working with pupils who require additional support with SEN, SEMH, and behavioural needs, and who is passionate about making a positive difference in the classroom.

Candidates applying for this role MUST have recent / previous experience working in a Primary school setting with Key stage 2 children who have additional needs.

Role Responsibilities

• Supporting the Year 4 class teacher with daily classroom activities and learning.

• Working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who require additional support.

• Supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

• Assisting with behaviour management strategies to help pupils remain engaged and focused in lessons.

• Helping pupils access the curriculum and supporting their academic and emotional development.

• Contributing to a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Requirements

• Experience working in a primary school or education setting.

• Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs is highly desirable.

• A patient, resilient, and supportive approach when working with children.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
