Role Overview - SEMH Tutor / English Instructor
This part-time role (0.3 timetable) involves supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a structured, supportive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering Key Stage 3 English lessons (lesson plans provided)
- Supporting literacy development - reading, writing, comprehension
- Delivering targeted interventions (e.g. phonics, Read Write Inc, catch-up programmes)
- Working 1:1 and in small groups to boost engagement and attainment
- Supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, and behavioural needs
- Building positive relationships to support student progress and wellbeing
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for candidates who are:
- Experienced in SEN, SEMH, behaviour support, or alternative provision
- Confident delivering or supporting English lessons (KS3 / GCSE level)
- From backgrounds such as education, youth work, care, or tutoring
- Passionate about progressing into a teaching career
- Strong communicators with excellent behaviour management skills
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable in a specialist setting
