Location: Burgess Hill (Specialist Provision)
Pay: £90-£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 08:45am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Contract: Temporary to Permanent (12-week placement)
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

NextGen Teachers are recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Burgess Hill. This role involves supporting children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), complex needs, and communication difficulties.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across primary and secondary age groups, helping them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn in a structured and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
• Supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), SEND, and complex needs
• Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation
• Creating a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
• Building positive relationships to support communication and confidence
• Working closely with teachers and support staff to adapt learning activities

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who are:

• Experienced in working with children or young people (care, support work, healthcare, or education)
• Interested in SEN, SEND, SEMH, or Autism support
• Calm, patient, and resilient in their approach
• Able to recognise behaviour triggers and support de-escalation
• Proactive, reliable, and committed to a long-term role
