We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil within a small, specialist provision based on a secondary school site.

The successful candidate will provide dedicated support to one pupil, acting as a key adult throughout the school day and helping them to access learning in a way that meets their individual needs as a Teaching Assistant.

The role would particularly suit someone with strong pastoral or behaviour support experience, who is confident supporting pupils who require high levels of reassurance, structure, and adult guidance and supporting a bespoke curriculum.

The provision is supported by a wider multidisciplinary team, with access to additional specialist input as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 LSA support for a pupil throughout the school day
  • Support engagement with a tailored learning programme
  • Use calm, therapeutic strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Build a trusting and positive professional relationship with the pupil
  • Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral, and specialist staff
  • Support the pupil's wellbeing, independence, and engagement in school life

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with pupils with additional needs, behaviour support, or pastoral care
  • A patient, nurturing, and emotionally attuned approach
  • Confidence working in an intensive 1:1 support role
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Why Apply?

  • Opportunity to work within a small, specialist setting
  • Highly rewarding role making a meaningful difference to a young person
  • Supportive team environment
  • Ongoing guidance and professional support and excellent staff benefits
