NextGen Teachers are proud to be working in partnership with an SEN School in Leeds (LS8) to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Mentor for a full-time, permanent position, starting as soon as possible.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and inclusive school community, working closely with pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students access learning, develop independence, and reach their full potential.

You will be supporting children across the Primary and Secondary age range in school in small classes who have a range of Communication and Complex needs.

Please note, candidates applying for this role MUST have experience working with children with Special Needs Including: Autism, Downs Syndrome, Physical needs, Medical needs and Speech Language and Communication needs.

Personal care is required in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of SEN needs

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

  • Assist the class teacher in adapting learning activities and resources

  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

  • Support pupils both in and out of the classroom, including during break times where required

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based experience desirable)

  • Is patient, empathetic, and resilient

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

  • Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Is reliable, proactive, and committed to long-term progression within a school
