Salary: £37,280 - £39,153
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Family Support Worker to lead a small team of two Family Support Workers within a school-based, multidisciplinary environment.
The school will provide high-quality leadership, safeguarding expertise, and direct casework support to children and families requiring targeted and statutory intervention, including those open to Children's Social Care. The role involves working with families experiencing complex needs, delivering effective assessments, planning, and multi-agency coordination to achieve sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the Family Support team, overseeing caseloads and quality of practice
Support with line management, performance management, and quality assurance
Ensure statutory safeguarding and Early Help duties are met within required timescales
Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, responding to concerns and maintaining accurate records
Provide expert safeguarding advice, guidance, and professional challenge to staff and partner agencies
Complete safeguarding audits and contribute to the organisation's safeguarding strategy
Coordinate safeguarding responses and multi-agency working
Undertake holistic, strengths-based assessments and develop effective support plans
Case-hold and coordinate support for children and families with complex needs
Attend and contribute to Child Protection, Child in Need, Early Help, and multi-agency meetings
Produce high-quality reports and maintain accurate electronic records
Work collaboratively with pastoral leads to improve attendance, behaviour, inclusion, and SEND outcomes
Deliver evidence-based whole-family interventions
Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and community partners
Lead timely advice, referrals, and duty processes to ensure appropriate levels of support
Requirements
GCSEs in Maths and English
NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care
Designated Safeguarding Lead trained
Full UK Driving Licence with access to own vehicle
Experience leading and managing staff
Recent, relevant casework experience with children, young people, and families with complex needs
Experience working in a school environment, including with children and young people with SEND
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Sound understanding of child development and the impact of trauma
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
