We are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in East Grinstead this September. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates from education, care, support work, or psychology graduate backgrounds who are passionate about making a difference in young people's lives.

The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, providing a structured, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

You will provide support within the classroom, through small group work, and on a 1:1 basis where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with SEN / SEND in lessons and daily activities
  • Assisting with learning, communication, and classroom engagement
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Building positive and consistent relationships with pupils
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and social development
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Experienced as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, or similar
  • Interested in SEN, SEND, Autism, SEMH, or additional needs
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing in their approach
  • Proactive, reliable, and adaptable
  • Strong communicators who work well as part of a team

Graduates interested in education, psychology, mental health, or child development are also encouraged to apply.
